New Menu for Lion Express

As we head into the cooler months there's nothing better than heart warming comfort food to ward off wintery chills.

The red ginger beef curry with biryani masala rice and cucumber raita paired with a pint Archie's Red Ale from local brewery Mismatch, or a glass of Paxton 'The Guesser' organic red wine will certainly hit the spot.

Swap your usual toast and jam for porridge with rhubarb and pear compote, chia seeds, macadamias and almond milk or the very topical crushed avocado on rye with haloumi cheese, poached eggs, coriander, za'atar spice and fresh lemon.

If you're a fish fiend, try the coconut poached barramundi with sambal and lemongrass brown rice, roasted cashew nuts, Chinese cabbage and sesame omelette.

So don't be house-bound this Winter...pop over to our house, sit by the fire and soak up the atmosphere with live music every night...we'll even do the dishes!

Kangaroo Island Is Closer Than You Think

If you've always wanted to taste the fabulous wine and cheese from Kangaroo Island, now you can...right here at The Lion.
Kangaroo Island is an iconic Australian destination. On the bucket list of global travellers for its pristine beaches, flora and fauna. The purity of it's offering extends beyond its air, sea and land, to the quality of its drinks and food.
The Kangaroo Island beverage project is an initiative of the Commissioner for KI, who having recognised the quality of what was on offer, was determined to make sure the potential of the island’s industry was realised through increased collaboration, greater distribution and broader promotion.
The local wine industry was established in the late 90's, with cider, beer and spirits following shortly thereafter. Together they are complimented by lamb, honey, seafood, cheese and other fine produce.
A great selection of the island’s finest wine producers will be available for tasting at The Lion on Wednesday 15th March from 5pm to 7pm, along with a selection of unique Kangaroo Island cheese.
Come along to meet the producers and try the results of their passion and commitment and be taken to the Island through the quality and flavour of their wines and cheese.
Islander Estate, False Cape, Bay of Shoals, Hazyblur, Dudley Wines and Stoke Wines will be tasting the a variety of wines along with produce from Island Pure.
